Arizona, U.S.A. - Documentary about a Tohono O'odham man

My graduate journalism thesis documentary is about a Tohono O'odham Native American man shot and killed by Border Patrol just miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. The film is about the legacy he left behind and how the presence of Border Patrol has impacted Indigenous communities and border towns. The film will be complete in May 2025.

California, U.S.A. - Qualitative perspectives on homeless encampment policy

My graduate public health capstone is a mixed methods, qualitative study about Oakland's homeless encampment management policy. I've conducted interviews with unhoused participants and homelessness stakeholders to understand their perceptions. This work builds off previous work I've done as an associate producer on a documentary made about homelessness in Oakland. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved this project. I plan to submit my findings to a peer-reviewed journal upon completion, such as the Journal of Urban Affairs or American Journal of Public Health.

Mumbai, India - Short documentary about health workers

As a part of an international reporting course at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, I traveled with another student to areas in and outside of Mumbai, India. There, we interviewed state-employed community health workers who travel door-to-door to deliver preventive care. These workers spoke with us about going on strike for better pay and benefits.

San Francisco, U.S.A - Short documentary about swimming

I produced and edited a short film about a San Francisco swimming club that didn't let women join as members until the 1970's. This 7-minute film is a fun, bubbly immersion into the world of open water swimming in the Bay Area. It was selected for a local Bay Area and Sacramento Film Festival in 2023.
